This project included replacing existing High pressure sodium and metal halide fixtures with new gasketed weather and water proof T5 fixtures with mounted occupancy sensors.
In the lower levels of the waste water treatment facility, there were two problems to tackle. First, many lights are left on when no one is present. One reason they leave them on is Sodium Bisulfite, which is used to treat wastewater, will corrode metal components not meant for the area. By eliminating existing outdated fixtures in favor of fixtures that are sealed tight enough to keep baby powder out and operate with an occupancy sensor, we have solve the problems that have been facing the customer for some time.
Currently, ERMCO has completed the Pump Room, South Tunnel and Geodesic Separator Domes. These projects have been completed with incentives available through IPL's lighting incentive program.

Scottsburg Solar Project - TIE Center
With assistance from the ERMCO Green Energy Group and Eco Source, Inc., the TIE Center in Scottsburg received a grant through the Office of Energy Development’s Alternative Power Energy Program towards the installation of 22,000 watt solar system. The system consisted of 3 separate combination parallel/series circuits containing 32~Sanyo HIT210 in each configuration feeding a Sunny Boy SMA7000 watt inverter. 5 additional panels utilizing Enphase inverters mounted directly under the panels were installed on a sculptural piece at the entrance to Straylight, a high tech lighting manufacturer housed within the TIE Center. The entire installation was designed, engineered and installed in conjunction with Eco Source, Inc., a local sustainable construction company specializing in “green energy” projects. -
Indiana Community Action Association (INCAA)
With assistance from the ERMCO Green Energy Group, INCAA was able to successfully obtain a grant through the OED’s EEGBC Program towards a complete office LED lighting retrofit. The grant paid for 50% of the installation of 96~LED lay-in retrofit kits, 36~LED can lights, 6~LED exit lights, 6~exterior LED wall mount fixtures, 12~dimmable LED pendant fixtures and 36~occupancy sensors and associated lighting control components. It should be noted that INCAA is a non-profit organization and even though they are unable to capture any EPACT2005 tax deductions, ERMCO, Inc. has captured those savings on their behalf and in turn, deducted those funds from the cost of the installation. The entire project was designed and installed by the ERMCO Green Energy Group. -
Electrical Training Institute - IEJATC
In late 2009, Andre Grocox, the ERMCO Green Energy Group Project Manager, was awarded an IPL Renewable Energy Program Demand-Side Grant on behalf of the IEJATC. Andre is a part-time Instructor at the IEJATC and was instrumental in landing a $10,000.00 grant towards the installation of a 3,000 watt solar array. This installation was the first solar project for ERMCO, Inc. and was instrumental in teaching several key ERMCO field personnel the characteristics of solar photovoltaic systems. It should be noted ERMCO, Inc. currently has a total of 24 Construction Operations Team members and Project Managers currently completing the IEJATC-sponsored Green Technician Certification, being taught by Andre Grocox. This training will prepare several of our key personnel for all future “green energy” projects.
